IRC HElp

Ok, So i am completely new to this IRC, which is why i have no idea what im doing [In a sense]. So.. I downloaded Swift Kit and when i went to the IRC, it asked me for a channel.. At that point i had no idea what to type in. Can anybody help me / direct me to a guide / make a guide if you really have the time  :P

Any Help would be awsome  :)
