This is what is going on in my zoo.
I go there all the time and keep a membership.
I am so sad over this.

It's so sad to me to have a mother lose her child.
The by-standers that watched this will forever be changed.
I just can't believe this happened as I have been to that exhibit a hundred times.
It never really seemed unsafe to me.

I only posted this cause it is so disturbing to me.
These animals are endangered and likely now will be put down.

Has anyone else had a zoo fatality in their area?
I'll be watching this also from a legal point to see how it all plays out.

Wayshow:

First, it's the mother's fault who decided not to hold on to her child that she put on the railing... It's like standing up on a water slide, falling, then blaming the officials for getting hurt.
Second, the animals were acting normally. If you throw a hurt animals at a pack of canines, then expect them to attack....
The animals probably won't get put down. If they do, then any animal which may attack human beings will have to get put down.

Randy:

Wow. I can't even imagine what everyone there went through when this happened. Tragic.

Rachellove9:

I'm not saying the mother didn't do the wrong thing.
She will live with that, but my heart goes out to her even in her mistake.
They are doing an update at 1:00 on channel 2 if anyone is in our area.
If they don't put the animals down, I would expect they will be moved to some other zoo or reserve.

I'll post again when I hear an update later.

Kevin:

Heard this on the news ... I think if I were one of the parents I would be traumatized for the rest of my life. How can you live with that guilt - and there's no way any parent wouldn't blame themselves for this.
