There are 18.5 ounces of soup in a can. This is equivalent to 524 grams. If Jenna has 8 ounces of soup, how many grams does she have round your answer to the nearest whole gram

1 ounce = 524/18.5 grams
524/18.5 X 8 = your answer

Use proportions to solve. Write out on ounces/grams = ounces/grams

So you start with 18.5 ounces over 524 grams, = to 8 ounces over x grams. Then solve for x, that will give you # of grams.

18.5/524 = 8/x

Cross multiply.

18.5x = 4192
x = 226.59 and that rounds to 227 grams.

I wish I still had this kind of math lol. If this is too late just get this down for the test. :)

Trick question.
8 ounces is one cup, so 18.5 ounces will be more than a pint.
There is no can which can hold that amount of soup.
