I made this playlist for people who don't normally listen to classical music.
It's music that I feel can be easily understood by non-classical listeners.
The rule I put on myself is that a composer can only have one piece featured (eg. only one piece by Mozart).
This is so that people can discover a really varied program.
I'm also avoiding all the most famous pieces (though many of these pieces are quite famous in classical circles).
I also tried to keep them short (ie, under 12 minutes)
If you can recommend any pieces to add to this playlist, please let me know.

Dvorak New World - It's in there already :P
Brahms Double Concerto - Maybe. Which movement?
Beethoven's 7th - Only one piece per composer. Is his 7th really worth it? I prefer Emperor Concerto
Lalo Symphonie Espagnole - Never heard it, will check it out :)
Mendelssohn's Elijah - Maybe. Which part?
Rachmaninoff piano concerto? - Piano Concerto 2? Third movement is incredible.
Ravel Bolero - I chose the Piano COncerto over that bloody Bolero. Hate hate hate it.

Not a fan of classical at all, but im gonna give this a go see if it changes my opinion  :wtf:

ok so far i like 1 and 4. With 4 being my fav i think out of the first 5 but close call between that and 1. Number 1 im sure i recognize from a film???
 Number 2 was a no go, 3 wasn't bad listenable. 4 i really liked just seemed different to most classical i've ever heard before? 5 was ok again not bad, sounded quite skillful? specially the start!

Looking forward to trying the others see if there's anything else i like though  ^.^

Cool, have always wanted to get into liking classical music. Nobody really listens to classical music and idk any musicians, so I haven't had a chance to be introduced to any. I did play the piano for about 6-7 years (ABRSM), and then I did concert choir/chamber chorale in high school, so I have a feel for what it's like I think.

I like instruments and vocals in general, I'm open to it all and wanna see the whole spectrum of classical music!

If any of you guys are any interested, I'm performing in this video with a mass choir of high schools from the US. This is at Cadogen Hall, for the London New Year's Parade Festival, 2012. Fav song at 32:00. :3

Beethoven's 9th Symphony last movement.
Just cuz it's epic and I just sang it with a huge chorus/orchestra. It's still stuck in my head

Mozart's violin concertos,  3rd.....because it's the piece I started practising and never finished. It'll always have a special place in my heart  :$

Bach's violin concerto in A minor

Bartok's concerto for orchestra

Shostakovich's 2nd piano concerto (second movement :) )

Shosta Piano Concerto 2 2nd movt is already in there :)
I might put B9 in there.
I would rather have a different Bach. There's much better than the A minor Violin concerto, even though it's nice.
Don't know the Mozart Violin concertos but I'll listen. Like I said I'm only doing one work per composer and Mozart is already in there.

Die Relinge (The Frogs) -Telemann's concerto in A major- is one of my favourite Baroque pieces, it makes me smile every time :)
