Real Life Discussion / Making Cider
February 23, 2012, 04:09:36 PM

The ingredients

Mixing them all and shaking them

Left to ferment for 3 days

Looks like orange juice, tastes like cider

Enjoying our 2 litres of shit strong (like 10-12%), $5 apple cider

I know it's meant to ferment for 2 months... but this was our test run.
We're going to try it with like, 6-8 bottles of juice this time round, leave it for 2 months, and have a sloshfest for less than $30 lol.

Media and Comedy / Amazing RSC Troll
January 18, 2012, 10:05:09 PM
http://forums.zybez.net/topic/1546532-new-clan-does-everything-darkest-hour/

That entire RSC topic is one epic troll-fest!
The story: An innocent kid posts in clan discussion asking for co-leaders to start his clan, which does EVERYTHING possible in Runescape. The entire RSC community comes together to troll him but he doesn't know he's being trolled. As a result, I'm a co-leader in his new clan... the Leader of IRL Meetings and the Head of Counter-Terrorism to be precise. Keanu is the Barbarian Assault leader

It starts off a little boring but if you stick with the entire 11 pages, it just keeps getting better and better.
It's quite simply the funniest RSC topic I've ever seen.

Creative Corner / Gene at the Piano
January 09, 2012, 02:28:25 AM
Thought I'd share a few clips of me performing.
First two are mostly refined, third one is the one I'm working on and struggling with.
I put the third one in to not be a show-off basically, so you can see the struggle. Bitch of a piece.
Don't mind the gym clothes.

J. BRAHMS - Intermezzo in A Op. 118 [First Section]
When a chick asks me to play for them, this is the one I play.
My former teacher said this is my best example of musical interpretation.

J. BRAHMS - Intermezzo in A Op. 118 [First Section]
EDIT: Oh wow that still of the vid looks intensely over-emotional

J.S. BACH - The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II [Prelude XX in A minor]
This is such a chromatic piece, and it sounds easy, but in fact it is quite difficult.
Love it to bits. Probably my most sound piece right now.
For the classical music experts here, forgive the accidental rubato caused by unfamiliar fingering.

J.S. BACH - The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II [Prelude XX in A minor]

J.S. BACH - The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II [Fugue XX in A minor]
This piece and the last are meant to be played as a pair (a prelude and fugue).
I've mastered the prelude, but the fugue is a real slutface.
I'm trying,,, and by the way it's meant to be played almost 50% faster than what I'm doing...
Even then, I've never played it this fast until I decided to record it for you guys... that's why I keep stopping. I'm going too fast to remember what happens next... and you can see I'm not reading the music.

Here's the scenario:

Posted above is the start of my website's title animation.
I have a bunch of letters which I am going to hang off a tree branch or some fixed bar, with string.
A gentle breeze will blow against them causing them to rock (and therefore rotate) gently at different rates according to how large each letter is and how long the string is.

In summary... Uncontrolled variables: Horizontal force, length of string.  Controlled Variables: 20N gravity, the relationship between Variable B and horizontal force applied. How far does each letter travel and how fast?

Whoever gives me the information I need will get real life money, according to how much effort is put in.

EDIT: If you're super awesome, you'd let the force of the wind change according to a sine wave with a relatively flat amplitude.

Real Life Discussion / Get a free 50k

50k PER email address you own.
All you have to do is follow the instructions below:

QuoteThere's this classical music station called ABC Classic FM that is doing a countdown of best pieces of music... and we're trying to vote the biggest piece of garbage song to the top. So yeah, if you could vote... it takes like 30 seconds, we will love you for all time!

When ABC Classic FM releases it's Classic 100 20th century countdown, let's make sure that at the very top of that list, is one of the great master works of the century: Stockhausen's Helicopter Quartet.

It is such an imaginative, moving work that has much to say about the human condition, and has brought me to tears on many occasions.

CLICK THE LINK TO LISTEN TO THIS SHORT EXCERPT:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13D1YY_BvWU

You'll no doubt agree that it is the greatest composition of the century, and that we should share it with ALL of Australia, so let's aim to make it #1 on the countdown!

HERE"S HOW YOU VOTE:

Click on the link below
http://www.abc.net.au/classic/100/

1. Click "Vote Now"
2. The Helicopter Quartet is not in the shortlist, so click "Add your own"
3. Composer will be Karlheinz Stockhausen, work will be "Helicopter String Quartet", click "Next"
4. Check the box in your updates shortlist and click "Next"
5. Enter your name and email address and click "send"
6. Check your email inbox and confirm your vote.
7. Tell all your family members and friends to vote and join our Facebook group to celebrate the countdown when it happens!

Forget the favourites (Shostakovich, Debussy, VW, Rach) - they'll make it in there without your help. Give old Stocky his time in the sun. Stockhausen may have believed he was born on Sirius, the "Dog Star" but his music is fully of Earthly delights.

Oh, and you don't have to be Australian to vote.

Good luck on bringing this master work to all of Australia!

Take a screenshot of your email confirmation page, upload and post here:
(You can add the image as an attachment instead of uploading)

Example shown below.
Make sure you click the link in the verification email.

CHANGE YOUR NAME FOR EACH VOTE SO THAT IT LOOKS LIKE DIFFERENT PEOPLE VOTING!

You get the 50k next time I see you online or in IRC.

Real Life Discussion / Australia's Biggest Troll
October 01, 2011, 09:16:17 AM
I have set up the biggest troll in Australian radio history.

Every year, the radio station ABC Classic FM has a top list voted for by the listeners.
This year's theme is 20th Century Classical Music.
We're aiming to get the (approximately) 1000 votes needed to send one particular work to #1.
Probably one of the most awful pieces of trash ever written.
Help us do that! When it gets announced as #1 out of nowhere, many lols will be had!

Quoting my Facebook Event:

Just have a valid email address.

Real Life Discussion / Trivia About YOU
September 01, 2011, 02:17:06 PM
There was a thread like this on the old forums.
I liked it so I'm bringing it back.

Name three little things about yourself that you don't think people would know about you.

Me first.

1. My favourite Pokémon is Jumpluff, because of the Sleep Powder + Leech Seed Combination. Jumpluff's high speed allows it to use sleep powder before almost any other Pokémon
2. Around the beginning of Runescape 2, I was an amazing quest master. I was the first person to write a guide on these quests: Monkey Madness, Nature Spirit, Troll Romance. I am particularly proud of Monkey Madness, which took me I think 8 hours to complete. I wasn't the first to complete it but I would have been in the first 100, and I did have the first guide up.
3. I am scared of the ocean. Very scared. Pictures and sounds are fine, but when I'm there I shit my pants. In the first Aussie IRL meeting I was fuck-off scared when I had to go in (as in, I felt like I would die if I went in), but I didn't want to look like a pussy around everyone else so I acted fine.

I've been stalking Youtube for the entries I believe will make the finals.
Below are some of the best.
I don't think my entry will make it any more :(
PS - I'm not going to include Faggotauros' entry.

Real Life Discussion / Deathly Hallows Part 2
July 13, 2011, 12:25:38 AM
Oh how I LOVE being Australian.
We got it 2 days before everyone else for some strange reason.
It comes HIGHLY recommended to you all.

The action scenes are one notch down from the Lord of the Rings (which for me is the absolute highest bench mark).
One notch down = Fucking amazing

I *sometimes* cry in movies, and this one brought me to tears in two places.
One was when the credits rolled and I realised I had not seen Emma Watson's cleavage.

What an amazing end to the journey.
It delivers on the book 100% and goes further.

Real Life Discussion / Call me Gene
June 26, 2011, 03:56:43 PM
This is why I have all my friends call me Gene and not Eugene.
Eugene comes from the word eugenics. BAD!
And when associated with nazi eugenics, it's even worse.

Basically, Eugenics is basically "racial hygiene" - only allowing people with desirable traits to pass on their genes in order to breed a better race.
It is the ultimate discrimination, because it discriminated agains almost everything: race, intelligence, sexual orientation, physical appearance, personality, age, and more.

So in a nutshell, I thought I'd request people call me Gene and not Eugene so I can avoid the Nazi connotations.

It's simple.
Post on this topic saying you'd like your ex-member rank carried over from our previous forum.
You ALSO have to PM me on the old forums saying you approve the transfer so that I know this account isn't an imposter.

Guest Lounge / [color=yellow]Exiled Members[/color]
June 20, 2011, 09:48:58 PM

The Exiled rank is reserved for those banned from our clan and community.
All of the players who have been exiled from WG's presence are listed here.
These are recorded for future reference, such as if we need to advise another clan about a dangerous member.

As of February 26th 2010, all Exiles from WG are effective for a minimum of 10 years, and cannot be appealed.
The only time an Exile will be revoked prior to this is if there has been an error on the leadership's behalf.
