An alliance is formed by two or more clans who formally or informally agree to support each other in various aspects of the game.
Traditionally, a formal alliance only requires the two or more participating clans to list one another as allies in writing (usually on a clan website or in a forum). An informal alliance can be established simply through the leadership of both clans mutually agreeing upon peace terms (clans are almost always initially hostile when they encounter one another in the Wilderness) and engaging in allied activities. These range from joint events such as PK trips, wars, and non-PvP events, to providing services such as ACing (Anti-Crashing) their ally's fights and taking part in intra-clan competitions.
The first alliance established by the Wilderness Guardians was with The Sabres (also known as The Sabre Clan) in December 2003. Since then, WG has shared alliances with many different clans, and been a member of two syndicates comprised of multiple allied clans – The Federation and the Justice Alliance. As of July 2019, WG does not have any formal alliances. The last allies of WG were the members of the Justice Alliance (Red Blade Hunters and Vanguard) before ceasing operations in May 2017.

Historical Alliances
Historically WG has been an ally of the following clans. Relations formed as part of The Federation are marked with an asterisk (*), and relations formed as part of the Justice Alliance are marked with two (**). Clans who are/were also exodi or relatives of WG are marked with a dagger (†).
3v0lution_X
August 2007 – May 2009
An alliance between 3v0 and WG was established in August 2007, though the reasons for this are unknown. The relationship was considerably successful, lasting for almost two years, and several videos exist of joint PK trips and wars between the two clans. 3v0 also competed against WG in the 2007 Skill Olympics. The alliance came to an end in early 2009, when 3v0 was torn in a leadership rift resulting in the clan's collapse. Two new clans were formed as a result, one of which was Zero Tolerance to which WG established a new alliance with.
BlacKnights
2 January 2012 – 13 November 2012
Given the similarity between BK and WG in terms of the two clans' ages (BK was an exceptionally long-standing clan), size and values (Honour in particular), an alliance was negotiated by Vio and Rosstitution in January 2012. BK joined The Sabres and DG on WG's allied raids, and the two clans fought several battles together under the moniker "BlackGuardians". Though the legitimacy of the alliance was questioned on occasion with some members leaving WG to join BK, it was overall considered to be positive and beneficial. In November 2012 BK converted from a clan to a team when it began to struggle with membership and activity as a result of the then-upcoming Evolution of Combat. While the alliance between BK and WG was never officially terminated, BK slowly faded into inactivity over the next few months and allied events ceased.
Blades of Serenity
? – ~28 October 2007
An alliance existed between WG and Blades of Serenity (BoS) up until October 2007, though no details of its inception can be verified. A few videos of allied events exist, and comments on these suggest the alliance was overall positively-viewed by members of both clans. BoS also took part in the 2006 Skill Olympics. The alliance was terminated on or around 28 October 2007 for unknown reasons.
The British Elites
21 July 2007 – 24 June 2010
His Lordship offered an alliance to TBE in July 2007, given the two clans' similarities in their strong communities and similar levels of PvP. The relationship lasted for almost three years, over the course of which many successful allied events including wars were held. TBE also participated in the 2009 Skill Olympics. TBE's own allies, The Death Monkeighs, later formed a second alliance with WG due to the success of the first. However, both alliances with TBE and TDM were terminated in June 2010 for unknown reasons.
The Council of Dragons*
3 January 2004 – January 2005
While the Council of Dragons (CoD) was also a member of The Federation, His Lordship was introduced to them directly by The Sabres leader Mortus Sabre and His Lordship offered CoD an alliance. CoD would have been considered WG's most powerful ally in terms of overall clan strength, but a lack of communication prevented this as well as CoD's preference to non-PvP events. After a year of negligible activity, the alliance was terminated.
Death Jesters*†
- Main article: Death Jesters
DJ was an exodus of The Synergy who helped reform The Federation in 2005, likely earning it an alliance with WG - though no record of DJ is mentioned in WG's history.
The Death Monkeighs
22 April 2008 – 24 June 2010
TDM was an existing ally of The British Elites and was offered an alliance with WG following the first year of TBE and WG's successful alliance. TDM also took part in the 2008 Skill Olympics the year after TBE. The alliances with both clans were terminated in June 2010 for unknown reasons.
Fear; Phobia
24 December 2004 – June 2006
Fear (sometimes referred to as FEAR) was a clan initially hostile to WG as a result of frequent run-ins in the Wilderness. After the events surrounding Write2brandy and the resulting feud with the Rune Outlaws, Fear offered WG their support and an alliance began. Fear took part in a steel war during WG's 2004 Anniversary, and fought with WG against 'The' Clan in late 2005. Fear's junior clan Phobia was also allied to WG. The alliance was unexpectedly terminated by Fear after 18 months, owing to what is only described as "a number of complicated reasons". WG accepted the separation politely.
Ghostknights
Mid 2004 – February 2005
An alliance between WG and GK was formed in the early S4 era, though not much is known about the details. GK disbanded in February of 2005 for unknown reasons resulting in the end of the relationship, though the former GK leader D Distroyer subsequently applied and was accepted into WG.
Kentai Shadow/Retribution
January 2005 – August 2005
KS was another ARPK clan inducted into The Federation, and allied with WG, The Sabres and The Synergy. Not much is known about the details of the alliance. KS changed their name to Retribution in August 2005. Details regarding the termination of the alliance are unknown.
Legends Legion
3 January 2005 – ?
Similar to Fear, LL allied with WG and took an opposing stance to the Rune Outlaws in early 2005. LL also took part in WG's 2004 Anniversary, and WG later fought with them against Rivendell in early 2005, in what was alleged to be the largest clan war in history at the time (filling an entire world to the limit of 2,000 players). This was the final mention of LL in WG's history, and details regarding the termination of the alliance are unknown.
The Order
August 2004 – December 2004
TO was added briefly to the list of WG's allies between August and December 2004, with some successful allied events being held. TO disbanded in early December, and their former second-in-command Dboy23 subsequently joined WG.
Poison
6 June 2013 – ?
Poison was a similarly sized clan to WG and had provided many clean and respectable fights, particularly in the early days of Old-School RuneScape. However at least two of these fights were interfered with by Critical Damage, including WG's first war in Old-School RuneScape. In June 2013 Poison entered a crashwar (an intense form of rivalry) against CD. WG leadership considered joining the dispute which involved an alliance to Poison, but the proposal was met with a negative response from the rest of the clan. Plans for involvement in the crashwar were not executed, and the alliance was short-lived.
Reckoning Day
Mid 2006
Following the severing of WG's alliance to Fear, RD proposed an alliance to WG which was accepted. However the relationship was short-lived as RD disbanded within a few weeks.
Red Blade Hunters**
September 2016 – May 2017
Despite some hostilities in distant history, RBH joined the Justice Alliance in September 2016 and took part in several successful events with WG including some wars. The alliance was terminated when Justice disbanded in May 2017.
The Rising; New Blood**
September 2016
TR and its junior clan NB became allies of WG by way of the Justice Alliance. Though TR and NB took part in discussions during the foundation of Justice, neither really responded afterwards and the alliance was short-lived.
The Royal Kingdom of Asgarnia*
2004 – 2005
RKoA was another Federation clan offered an alliance by WG in the early days of WG history. Further details regarding the relationship and its termination are unknown.
The RuneScape Warriors
5 August 2004 – ?
Record exists of an alliance being established between WG and RW on August 5 2004, though further details regarding the alliance and its termination are unknown.
RuneScape Scorpions
Mid 2004 – ?
Also known as "The Scorpions", WG attracted RSS's attention during the S7 era, and RSS leader Lady Naomi offered an alliance which was accepted. Several successful allied events including raids were held, though details regarding the termination of the alliance are unknown.
Ryu Saikoken'i
2004
RS was a Japanese-based ARPK clan. RS and WG listed each other as allies for most of 2004, though there is no further historical record of the alliance.
The Sabres*
- Main article: The Sabres
9 December 2003 – 2004, 2005–2006, 10 November 2009 – 2012–2013
TS, also known as The Sabre Clan, was the oldest clan in RuneScape and shared the founding principle of ARPK with WG. TS became WG's first allies only 3 days after WG's inception and would become one of WG's closest relations over the course of their history. In total three separate alliances were established between WG and TS over a period of ten years, the last and arguably most successful of which was negotiated in November 2009. Though TS did not officially disband, it diminished into inactivity within RuneScape over the course of 2012 and 2013. Two former leaders of TS, Sabre Chilli and Ganja Sabre later applied and were accepted into WG.
Sleeping Dragons*†
- Main article: Sleeping Dragons
SD was another exodus of The Synergy and helped reform The Federation in 2005. While His Lordship has commented that SD was the only clan which "could be taken seriously" out of minor clans involved in the Federation, no record of the alliance is mentioned in WG's history.
The Synergy*†
- Main article: [[{{{1}}}]]
The Synergy (Syn) was an exodus of WG formed by Eragon Cd in 2004. Shortly after opening, a rivalry began between WG and Syn, and hostilities lasted for around four or five months. Eventually, Eragon Cd and His Lordship worked out a peace treaty and an alliance. Syn also took part in WG's first Anniversary. In late 2004/early 2005 several exodi broke off from Syn including the Death Jesters and Sleeping Dragons, though Syn survived the breakup. Syn also helped restart The Federation in mid-2005, and even after WG left the Federation they retained their alliance with Syn. Details regarding the termination of the alliance are unknown.
Vanguard**
September 2016 – May 2017
VNG was a clan similar to WG in terms of PvP status and considered one of the few surviving clans which retained a strict code of Honour. After a few successful allied events, WG and VNG established the Justice Alliance in late 2016. Despite a few minor issues in regards to members switching between clans, the alliance was overall a success for its lifespan but was broken along with the disbanding of Justice in early 2017.
Zero Tolerance
22 May 2009 – 24 October 2010
ZT was an exodus of 3v0lution_X formed by Torreoria in early 2009. The previous relationship between 3v0 and WG earned ZT an alliance which was largely successful, including many allied raids. The alliance was terminated in late 2010 due to a broadening rift between the clans.
