The Death Jesters (DJ) was a clan founded by The Vicount in late 2004. DJ was an exodus of The Synergy, and the first second-generation relative of the Wilderness Guardians.

History

Plans for DJ began as early as October or November 2004, when Synergy council member The Vicount began planning to open a new clan. Given that Syn was mainly American-based, The Vicount wanted a clan with events more suitable for European members. The clan's forums were created and the name "Death Jesters" was chosen. The Vicount informed Syn leader Eragon Cd of his plans, but chose to remain in Syn for a few more months. Eragon Cd is believed to have been accepting of the proposal.

In January or February 2005, Eragon Cd registered on DJ's forums to help The Vicount and Shadower2000 - another founding DJ member - with administration problems. Around this time, Syn co-leader Kanchellsis discovered the DJ forums, and subsequently banned Eragon Cd, The Vicount and Shadower2000 from Syn - despite DJ not yet being an active clan. As a result, The Vicount opened DJ in early 2005, much sooner than anticipated. Largely due to the Syn founder's ban, several Syn members subsequently left to join DJ. Names of the founding members include Dragoneye 79, Chetty0504, Lemur Master, DaEvilBlitz, and Mithril Lady. Lemur Master would become the clan recruiter. Eragon Cd eventually regained his access to Syn forums and initially argued a case in support of DJ, though he later apologised for the incident. He later resumed leadership of Syn.[1]
