Oak Island Pirates (OIP) was the first and only exodus of the Descendant Guardians, formed by Oak Island in 2006. OIP is one of the longest-surviving exodi at 14 years as of 2020, and one of only two which are still active within the game.

Formation

OIP was founded in January 2006, and officially opened in February. The clan arose as a result of what is described as "political infighting" with the first iteration of DG (the Wilderness Guardians's junior clan). Oak Island, a member of DG, intended to start a new clan, and gained the support of other members who would subsequently join OIP. WG is believed to have been considerably displeased with the concept of OIP - possibly due to the loss of members - and would eventually close DG as a result, though no serious hostilities are known to have arisen between WG and OIP. OIP also adopted an ARPK policy as their ancestors WG and DG had done.

OIP is known to have had alliances with various clans, including another relative of WG, Sleeping Dragons. Several skills competitions were held between OIP, SD, and others during 2011 and 2012, with considerable success.
