S4 forums
The S4 forums were the second set of Invisionfree forums used by the Wilderness Guardians, from July of 2004 to 25 April 2005. These are the only forums to survive the transition from Invisionfree to Tapatalk, and can now be found here.
Overview
The S4 forums are the oldest surviving forums of WG. A switch from the S7 forums was made in July of 2004 - WG's written history suggests that this was due to S7 being poorly kept, inactive members, and spam - while historical accounts suggest it was an attempt at eradicating spies. The clan's historical timeline and newspost archives differ on whether the switch occurred on the 20th[1] or 30th.[2]
On 4 September 2004 His Lordship's forum account was hacked, and the person responsible deleted the entire contents of the S4 forum, and then His Lordship's account itself - thus, the earliest surviving content starts from 4 September 2004.[3] As of June 2011 the S4 forums had 64,397 posts and 276 registered accounts, with the peak of activity being 46 online members on 10 April 2005.
Around 24 April 2005, multiple members of WG had their RuneScape accounts hacked and the contents of their banks taken - and it was believed to be a forum issue.[4] WG made the decision to switch to the S10 forums on 25 April 2005, after approximately 9 months of use.[5]
