Revision as of 04:03, 6 March 2025

An alliance is formed by two or more clans who formally or informally agree to support each other in various aspects of the game.
Traditionally, a formal alliance only requires the two or more participating clans to list one another as allies in writing (usually on a clan website or in a forum). An informal alliance can be established simply through the leadership of both clans mutually agreeing upon peace terms (clans are almost always initially hostile when they encounter one another in the Wilderness) and engaging in allied activities. These range from joint events such as PK trips, wars, and non-PvP events, to providing services such as ACing (Anti-Crashing) their ally's fights and taking part in intra-clan competitions.
The first alliance established by the Wilderness Guardians was with The Sabres in December 2003. Since then, WG has shared alliances with many different clans, and been a member of two syndicates comprised of multiple allied clans – The Federation and the Justice Alliance. As of July 2019, WG does not have any formal alliances. The last allies of WG were the members of the Justice Alliance (Red Blade Hunters and Vanguard) in May 2017.

Minor and Failed Alliances
Occasionally there have been attempts at alliances which either failed or did not last long enough to have any significant impact. These are:

RKoA was a RSC and RS2 ARPK clan founded on 18 September or November[2] 2001. They are believed to have been invited to the Federation by Mortus Sabre on or around 20 November 2003[3], which they accepted. When WG joined the Federation in December 2004, they offered RKoA an alliance along with the Knights of Death. WG's written history states that the alliance with KoD was not accepted, implying that RKoA did accept WG's offer - however there are no further mentions of RKoA in the history, and they were removed from WG's list of allies between October and December of 2004.[4] No other surviving records of RKoA have been found - their domain (asgarnia.com) and website/forums continue to exist as of 2025, though registration appears to be impossible and the clan is believed to have fallen into complete inactivity at an unknown point in time.[5]

2004
RS was a RS2 ARPK clan founded by Wizard 46[6] during or before 2004. They also had an alliance with The Sabres, and RS and WG listed each other as allies on their websites in 2004 - the earliest archive of WG's website has them listed in May.[7] However, there are no mentions of RS on the S4 Forums or in the written history, or evidence of any allied events. The last update to RS's website was on 26 May 2004 and they are presumed to have fallen into inactivity around this time.[8] They were removed from WG's list of allies sometime between September and October 2004.[9]

~August 2004 - 31 January 2005
GK was an Anti-PK clan founded during or before 2004.[10] They held alliances with The Titans and The Synergy[11], and WG formed an alliance with them around August 2004. This lasted for around 5 months, though there is little evidence of any actual events and its productivity was often questioned.[12] However, GK leader D-Distroyer was fairly active on WG's forums and attended several PK trips.[13] He resigned from GK on 31 January 2005 for personal reasons, and ended the alliance[14], shortly before GK closed on 4 February 2005.[15] He later applied and was accepted into WG.[16]
The RS Warriors
5 August 2004 – ?
A news announcement was made on WG's website that an alliance had been established between WG and a clan referred to as "the RS Warriors" on 5 August 2004.[17] However, no such clan appears on WG's list of allies on an archived copy dated 30 August 2004[18], and no references to "RS Warriors" have been found on the S4 Forums or in WG's written history. It is possible that "RS" could refer to Ryu Saikoken'i who also called themselves the "RS Knights" - however the alliance with RS is believed to have started during or before May of 2004.

Mid-2006
RD was a clan founded on or around 28 January 2006.[19] Following the severing of WG's alliance to Fear, RD proposed an alliance to WG which was accepted. However the relationship was short-lived as RD closed within a few weeks. An attempt at restarting RD was made in 2008[20] which lasted for over a year, until RD closed permanently at some point between 14 July and 6 August 2009.[21] Their closing topic was not archived, and the reasons for their closure are unknown.
Poison
6 June 2013
Poison was a clan founded in 2009. Poison was similarly sized to WG and had provided many clean and respectable fights, particularly in the early days of Old-School RuneScape - however, at least two of these fights were interfered with by Critical Damage, including WG's first war in Old-School RuneScape. In June 2013 Poison entered a crashwar (an intense form of rivalry) against CD. WG leadership considered joining the dispute which involved an alliance to Poison, but the proposal was met with a negative response from the rest of the clan. Plans for involvement in the crashwar were not executed, and the alliance was short-lived.[22] Poison closed on or around 17 May 2017.[23]
The Rising and New Blood
September 2016
TR is a clan founded in July 2007.[24] TR and its junior clan NB would have become allies of WG by way of the Justice Alliance - though TR and NB took part in discussions during the foundation of Justice, neither really responded afterwards and the alliance was short-lived. Despite having closed and reopened at least once[25], as of 2020 TR was still an active clan in Old-School RuneScape - though their current status is unknown.[26]
