WG and allies The Sabres under the moniker "WS" battle against Noobs Incorporated, 2009

An alliance is formed by two or more clans who formally or informally agree to support each other in various aspects of the game.

Traditionally, a formal alliance only requires the two or more participating clans to list one another as allies in writing (usually on a clan website or in a forum). An informal alliance can be established simply through the leadership of both clans mutually agreeing upon peace terms (clans are almost always initially hostile when they encounter one another in the Wilderness) and engaging in allied activities. These range from joint events such as PK trips, wars, and non-PvP events, to providing services such as ACing (Anti-Crashing) their ally's fights and taking part in intra-clan competitions.

The first alliance established by the Wilderness Guardians was with The Sabres in December 2003. Since then, WG has shared alliances with many different clans, and been a member of two syndicates comprised of multiple allied clans – The Federation and the Justice Alliance. As of July 2019, WG does not have any formal alliances. The last allies of WG were the members of the Justice Alliance (Red Blade Hunters and Vanguard) in May 2017.

Historical Alliances

Historically WG has been an ally of the following clans. Relations formed as part of The Federation are marked with an asterisk (*), and relations formed as part of the Justice Alliance are marked with two (**). Clans who are/were also exodi or relatives of WG are marked with a dagger (†).

3v0lution_X

WG and 3v0 on an allied raid, August 2007.

August 2007 – May 2009

3v0lution_X (3v0) was a clan founded during or before 2006, and is notable for being the clan of Durial321, the player responsible for the "Falador Massacre" on 6 June 2006.[1] An alliance between 3v0 and WG was formed in August 2007, though the reasons for this are unknown. The relationship was considerably successful, lasting for almost two years, and several videos exist of joint PK trips and wars between the two clans. 3v0 also competed against WG in the 2007 Skill Olympics. The alliance was ended in early 2009, when 3v0 was torn in a leadership rift resulting in the clan's collapse. Two new clans were formed as a result, one of which was Zero Tolerance to which WG formed a new alliance with.[2]

BlacKnights

2 January 2012 – 13 November 2012

The BlacKnights (BK) was a clan founded in January 2001, and in 2012 were considered the second oldest surviving clan in RuneScape (behind The Sabres).[3] Given the similarity between BK and WG in terms of the two clans' ages, sizes, and values (Honour in particular), an alliance was formed by Vio and Rosstitution in January 2012.[4] BK joined The Sabres and DG on WG's allied raids, and the two clans fought several battles together under the moniker "BlackGuardians".[5] Though the legitimacy of the alliance was questioned on occasion with some members leaving WG to join BK[6], it was overall considered to be positive and beneficial. In November 2012 BK converted from a clan to a team when it began to struggle with membership and activity as a result of the then-upcoming Evolution of Combat.[7] While the alliance between BK and WG was never officially ended, BK slowly faded into inactivity over the next few months and allied events ceased.

Blades of Serenity

? – ~28 October 2007

Blades of Serenity (BoS) was a clan founded during or before 2006. An alliance was formed between WG and BoS at an unknown point in time and for unknown reasons. A few videos of allied events exist, and comments on these suggest the alliance was overall positively-viewed by members of both clans.[8] BoS also took part in the 2006 Skill Olympics. The alliance was ended on or around 28 October 2007[citation needed] for unknown reasons. The last existing record of BoS's activity was in September 2008.[9]

The British Elites

WG and TBE vs Triforce, February 2009.

21 July 2007 – 24 June 2010

The British Elites (TBE) is a clan founded on 3 July 2004. His Lordship offered an alliance to TBE in July 2007, given the two clans' similarities in their strong communities and similar levels of PvP. The relationship lasted for almost three years, over the course of which many successful allied events including wars were held. TBE also participated in the 2009 Skill Olympics. TBE's own allies, The Death Monkeighs, later formed a second alliance with WG due to the success of the first. However, both alliances with TBE and TDM were ended in June 2010 for unknown reasons.[citation needed] As of 2020, TBE is still an active clan in RuneScape 3.[10]

The Council of Dragons*

3 January 2004 – January 2005

The Council of Dragons (CoD) was a clan founded during or before 2004. While CoD was also a member of The Federation, His Lordship was introduced to them directly by The Sabres leader Mortus Sabre and His Lordship offered CoD an alliance.[11] CoD would have been considered WG's most powerful ally in terms of overall clan strength, but a lack of communication prevented this as well as CoD's preference to non-PvP events. After a year of negligible activity, the alliance was ended. Aside from WG's own historical account, no other surviving records of CoD have been found.

Death Jesters*†

Main article: Death Jesters

Death Jesters (DJ) was a clan founded in late 2004/early 2005 as an exodus of The Synergy. DJ helped reform The Federation in 2005, which would likely have resulted in the formation of an alliance with WG - though no record of DJ is mentioned in WG's history. Further details regarding the alliance and its ending are unknown, and no other surviving records of DJ have been found.

The Death Monkeighs

WG greets TDM before a friendly CWA war, May 2009.

22 April 2008 – 24 June 2010

The Death Monkeighs (TDM) is a clan founded on 20 November 2004. TDM was an existing ally of The British Elites and was offered an alliance with WG on 22 April 2008, following the first year of TBE and WG's successful alliance.[12] TDM also took part in the 2008 Skill Olympics the year after TBE. The alliances with both clans were ended in June 2010 for unknown reasons.[citation needed] As of 2020, TDM is still an active clan in RuneScape 3.

Fear; Phobia

Main article: Fear

24 December 2004 – June 2006

Fear (sometimes stylised as FEAR) was a clan founded in March 2003. After the events surrounding Write2brandy and the resulting feud with the Rune Outlaws, Fear ended previous hostilities and offered WG their support against RO. An alliance was formed on Christmas Eve, 2004. Fear took part in a steel war during WG's 2004 Anniversary, and fought with WG against 'The' Clan in late 2005. Fear's junior clan Phobia was also allied to WG. The alliance was unexpectedly ended by Fear after 18 months, owing to what is only described as "a number of complicated reasons". WG accepted the separation politely. Fear closed on or around 19 July 2006.

Ghostknights

Mid 2004 – February 2005

Ghostknights (GK) was a clan founded during or before 2004. An alliance between WG and GK was formed in the early S4 era, though not much is known about the details. GK disbanded in February of 2005 for unknown reasons, resulting in the ending of the alliance.[13] The former GK leader D Distroyer subsequently applied and was accepted into WG.[14]

Kentai Shadow/Retribution

January 2005 – August 2005

Kentai Shadow (KS) was a clan founded during or before 2004. KS was an ARPK clan inducted into The Federation, and allied with WG, The Sabres, and The Synergy.[15] Not much is known about the details of the alliance. KS changed their name to Retribution in August 2005[citation needed]. Further details regarding the alliance and its ending are unknown, and no other surviving records of KS/Retribution have been found.

Legends Legion

LL and allies including WG battle against Rivendell, January 2005.

3 January 2005 – ?

Legends Legion (LL) was a clan founded in August 2004.[16] Similar to Fear, LL formed an alliance with WG and took an opposing stance to the Rune Outlaws in early 2005.[17] LL also took part in WG's 2004 Anniversary, and WG later fought with them against Rivendell in early 2005, in what was alleged to be the largest clan war in history at the time (filling an entire world to the limit of 2,000 players).[18] This was the final mention of LL in WG's history, and further details regarding the alliance and its ending are unknown. No other surviving records of LL have been found.

The Order

August 2004 – December 2004

The Order (TO) was a clan founded during or before 2004. TO was added briefly to the list of WG's allies between August and December 2004, with some successful allied events being held. TO closed in early December, and their former second-in-command Dboy23 subsequently joined WG.[19]

Poison

6 June 2013 – ?

Poison was a clan founded in 2009. Poison was similarly sized to WG and had provided many clean and respectable fights, particularly in the early days of Old-School RuneScape. However at least two of these fights were interfered with by Critical Damage, including WG's first war in Old-School RuneScape. In June 2013 Poison entered a crashwar (an intense form of rivalry) against CD. WG leadership considered joining the dispute which involved an alliance to Poison, but the proposal was met with a negative response from the rest of the clan. Plans for involvement in the crashwar were not executed, and the alliance was short-lived.[20] Poison closed on or around 17 May 2017.[21]

Reckoning Day

Mid 2006

Reckoning Day (RD) was a clan founded in 2006. Following the severing of WG's alliance to Fear, RD proposed an alliance to WG which was accepted. However the relationship was short-lived as RD closed within a few weeks. An attempt at restarting RD was made in 2008[22], though the last record of the clan's activity was on 30 March 2009[23] and RD is presumed to have closed around this time.

September 2016 – May 2017

Red Blade Hunters (RBH) is a clan founded in 2004 or early 2005, and notable for being considered Vio's first clan. Despite some hostilities in distant history, RBH joined the Justice Alliance in September 2016 and took part in several successful events with WG including some wars. The alliance was terminated when Justice disbanded in May 2017. As of 2020, RBH is still an active clan in Old-School RuneScape.

The Rising; New Blood**

September 2016

The Rising (TR) is a clan founded in July 2007.[24] TR and its junior clan New Blood (NB) became allies of WG by way of the Justice Alliance. Though TR and NB took part in discussions during the foundation of Justice, neither really responded afterwards and the alliance was short-lived. Despite having closed and reopened at least once[25], as of 2020 TR is still an active clan in Old-School RuneScape.[26]

The Royal Kingdom of Asgarnia*

2004 – 2005

The Royal Kingdom of Asgarnia (RKoA) was a clan founded on 18 September 2001.[27] RKoA was another Federation clan offered an alliance by WG in the early days of WG history. Further details regarding the alliance and its ending are unknown, and no other surviving records of RKoA have been found.

The RuneScape Warriors

5 August 2004 – ?

The RuneScape Warriors (RW) was a clan founded during or before 2004. Record exists of an alliance being established between WG and RW on August 5 2004[citation needed]. Further details regarding the alliance and its ending are unknown, and no other surviving records of RW have been found.

RuneScape Scorpions

~September 2004 – ?

The RuneScape Scorpions (RSS, also known as The Scorpions) was a clan founded in 2001. WG attracted RSS's attention during the S7 era, and RSS leader Lady Naomi offered an alliance which was accepted. Several allied events including raids were held[28][29], though these were often considered relatively unsuccessful.[30][31] Further details regarding the ending of the alliance are unknown. RSS was known to have been active at least up until around 2008.[32]

Ryu Saikoken'i

2004

Ryu Saikoken'i (RS) was a clan founded in 2004. RS was a Japanese-based ARPK clan, and RS and WG listed each other as allies for most of 2004[33]. Details regarding the ending of the alliance are unknown, and no other surviving records of RS have been found.

9 December 2003 – 2004, 2005–2006, 10 November 2009 – 2012–2013

The Sabres (TS, also known as The Sabre Clan) was a clan founded in 1999. TS was considered the oldest clan in RuneScape, and shared the founding principle of ARPK with WG. TS became WG's first allies only 3 days after WG's inception and would become one of WG's closest relations over the course of their history. In total three separate alliances were established between WG and TS over a period of ten years, the last and arguably most successful of which was negotiated in November 2009. Though TS did not officially close, it diminished into inactivity within RuneScape over the course of 2012 and 2013. Two former leaders of TS, Sabre Chilli and Ganja Sabre later applied and were accepted into WG.

Sleeping Dragons*†

Main article: Sleeping Dragons

Sleeping Dragons (SD) was a clan founded in early 2005. SD was another exodus of The Synergy and helped reform The Federation in 2005. While His Lordship has commented that SD was the only clan which "could be taken seriously" out of minor clans involved in the Federation, no record of the alliance is mentioned in WG's history.

The Synergy*†

Main article: The Synergy

The Synergy (Syn) was an exodus of WG formed by Eragon Cd in 2004. Shortly after opening, a rivalry began between WG and Syn, and hostilities lasted for around four or five months. Eventually, Eragon Cd and His Lordship worked out a peace treaty and an alliance. Syn also took part in WG's first Anniversary. In late 2004/early 2005 several exodi broke off from Syn including the Death Jesters and Sleeping Dragons, though Syn survived the breakup. Syn also helped restart The Federation in mid-2005, and even after WG left the Federation they retained their alliance with Syn. Details regarding the termination of the alliance are unknown.

Vanguard**

See also: Justice Alliance

September 2016 – May 2017

Vanguard (VNG) is a clan founded during or before 2016. VNG was similar to WG in terms of PvP status and considered one of the few surviving clans which retained a strict code of Honour. After a few successful allied events, WG and VNG established the Justice Alliance in late 2016. Despite a few minor issues in regards to members switching between clans, the alliance was overall a success for its lifespan but was broken along with the disbanding of Justice in early 2017. As of 2020, VNG is still an active clan within Old-School RuneScape.[34]

Zero Tolerance

WG and ZT on an allied raid from ZT leader Torreoria's perspective, July 2010.

22 May 2009 – 24 October 2010

Zero Tolerance (ZT) is a clan formed in early 2009. ZT was an exodus of 3v0lution_X formed by Torreoria. The former relationship between 3v0 and WG earned ZT an alliance which was largely successful, including many allied raids. The alliance was ended in late 2010 due to a broadening rift between the clans.[35] As of 2020, ZT is still an active clan in Old-School RuneScape.
