Vio is a RuneScape player and former member of the Wilderness Guardians from 2009 to 2020. He served as Historian of WG from 2010 to 2011, Leader of Descendant Guardians from 2011 to 2013, and Warlord and Second in Command of WG in 2013. Vio is also a video-maker in the RuneScape community with around 5,000 YouTube subscribers - he collaborated with His Lordship on a number of occasions and produced several popular RuneScape videos such as The Wilderness - An Unauthorised Biography. Vio resigned from WG to join Deathrow in 2020, but continues to work on documenting WG's history and maintaining the wiki as of 2025.

Early History

Vio was introduced to RuneScape in the summer of 2003 by a childhood friend, and made the account Kecooler at the age of 10. He took a relatively early interest in clans, and in 2006 befriended the Abyssal Guardians who introduced him to F2P PvP. He did not meet AG's requirements for membership, and instead spent much of the summer of 2006 in smaller clans around the 70+ mark - these included Black Fire Knights, Leigion[sic] of Chaos, and TuneScape - however BFK and LoC were largely inactive, while TuneScape was an American-based clan and their event times were too much of an issue for Vio who was living in the UK. Vio considered his first "real" clan to be the Red Blade Hunters, which he joined on 29 October 2006 and spent several months with, as well as starting his reputation of a video-maker - recording RBH's events with Hypercam 2 and editing them with Windows Movie Maker.[1]

In 2007 Vio ventured further into the F2P clan world. After the closure of AG in early 2007, he left RBH to take over an attempted AG reformation known as Moratorium. Mora lasted around 6 months with moderate success, and was Vio's first genuine experience with clan leadership. After Mora he joined several other clans during 2007, namely Unknown Bounty Hunters, Charmed & Dangerous, Avenged, and receiving the "Ending Member" rank for the Cutthroat Syndicate for time spent with them. He attempted to revive Mora near the end of the year, but following the removal of Wilderness PvP and free trade on 10 December 2007 , he instead rejoined RBH - remaining with them through 2008, and ascending to the ranks of Event Organiser and High Council. However an internal dispute cut his term as HC short, and he stepped down and resigned from RBH in early 2009.[1]

After RBH Vio joined The Sabres in early 2009, after researching them and being surprised to find that the oldest RuneScape clan had requirements which he met. As with previous clans he produced videos of their events, as well as starting a Sabre-named account (Sabre Keanu) as TS required members create Sabre-named accounts prior to the ability to change an account's display name. However he made little progress with this account as he was also training a third account to join WG at the same time - and he also had an aversion to TS's frequent wars in the Clan Wars arena rather than PvP worlds. Ultimately he chose to leave TS in mid 2009 to focus on training for WG, but would go on to attend two of TS's real life meetings in 2010.

WG History

Vio had been aware of WG since around 2006 (due to the popularity of The TeamSpeak Rant and the London 2008 real life meeting video, amongst other things) - and in March 2009 Vio introduced himself and expressed his intention of joining WG.[2] However he chose not to apply for WG with his original account "Kecooler", as on three separate occasions he had attempted to train the account to meet a clan's requirements, only for the clan to close before he achieved them. Instead, he chose to create a new account (WG Keanu) and train it up from scratch, in a similar fashion to TS.[3]

2009 - 2011

Vio reached WG's requirements of level 100 combat on 16 October 2009, and was accepted into WG by His Lordship a day later.[4] His early days with WG were somewhat problematic - he had shown an unusually keen interest in WG for several months before applying, which some members considered obsessive behaviour.[5] As a member he also had an initial aversion to WG's focus on P2P PvP, given his history of entirely F2P clans.[6] Nonetheless he graduated to a full member in November[7] and continued to produce videos of WG's PK trips and PKRIs as he had done for previous clans - now using Camtasia and Fraps to record, and Sony Vegas to edit. He also took an interest in the historical aspects of WG - His Lordship provided him with Wildflame110's raw footage from WG's first war, which Vio edited into a presentable video on 2 November 2009. This was the first time footage of WG's first war (and footage of the clan in 2004) was made public, and His Lordship was pleased with his efforts.[8]

Vio attended both The Great War and The Battle of Turning Tides in 2010 - producing a plaque in Photoshop for the former, and a heavily-edited but well-received video for the latter. He continued to work on preserving WG's historical aspects - most notably with the creation of the first version of WG's wiki. This was released to the public on 7 July 2010 and appraised by His Lordship and the rest of the clan.[9] Vio also purchased a WG t-shirt and attended RuneFest 2010 - his third real life meeting (after 2 with The Sabres) and first with WG. At the meeting, His Lordship offered Vio a unique clan rank as a bribe for getting a haircut - which Vio accepted, leading to the creation of the Historian rank.[10] Vio also received the two most prestigious GuardianScore awards - Outstanding Donor and Outstanding Contribution.

Despite his efforts on the historical aspects of WG, Vio was the cause of multiple problems and issues as a member of the clan - largely as a result of his immaturity as a teenager.[11] In January 2011 he received a suspension from the clan, and after posting and rescinding his resignation, he came to an agreement with the staff to leave the clan temporarily.[12] During his absence he founded and led The Blade Keepers and briefly joined Ascension, before His Lordship invited him to return to WG on 23 May 2011.[13] He was immediately returned to the rank of Historian, though this caused some debate within the clan as TBK had been involved in a brief rivalry with WG during his absence.[14]

During The Reckoning on 20 June 2011, Vio was given leadership of WG's newly-reopened junior clan Descendant Guardians, and changed his display name to DG Keanu. He led DG for nearly 2 years in his most successful term as a clan leader, with DG rising to become an established and respected clan in their own right throughout 2011 and 2012. On 2 August 2012, WG and DG combined their leadership, resulting in Vio becoming an Advisor and the Second-in-Command of WG.[15] This stunted DG's progress somewhat as Vio began focusing his efforts on WG matters - though the junior clan remained stable until 2013 when it was phased out with the release of Old School RuneScape.

Notably during his time as DG Leader, Vio attended in-game clan leader meetings with His Lordship where they discussed clan-related issues with Jagex. This included the decline of PvP in RuneScape even after the 2011 updates which returned Wilderness PvP and free trade, and ultimately led to the production of The Wilderness - An Unauthorised Biography in 2012. He also attended two further real life meetings - RuneFest 2011 (where Vio and His Lordship discussed clan PvP issues with Jagex moderators in person), and Edale in 2012.

2013 - 2014

Vio moved to OSRS upon its release, and despite being an Advisor applied for a Warlord (at the time "Raidmaster") poistion on 17 March 2013.[16] He retained his Advisor rank but would serve as the Head Warlord (at the time "Warlord"), and led WG through many of their early OSRS battles including their first OSRS war (WG vs Poison) and a run-in with Reign of Terror.[17] He also attended the York real life meeting in April (where His Lordship himself gave Vio a haircut, as had become tradition), and helped produce WG's 2013 recruitment video in July. WG's progress with OSRS PvP began to slow as 2013 progressed and Vio became more focused on forum and technical work, and so switched to the rank of Forum Tech on 23 August.[18] However, Vio considered WG's community to have developed serious issues with trolling and immaturity, leading him to post his resignation on 28 November 2013, requesting Ex-Member (as opposed to Emeritus, a rank for retired staff). He considered starting a community clan Epsilon and produced forums and graphics for it, but the clan ultimately did not open.[19]

After spending the winter of 2013 away from RuneScape, Vio attended the 2013 Anniversary in January 2014[20] and attempted to mend ties with the clan afterward. He re-applied on 27 February 2014, but chose to apply by posting a piece of original poetry rather than filling out the application form which he himself had previously created - nonetheless he was accepted as an Emeritus.[21] Despite the previous issues with immaturity remaining unresolved in his opinion[22], he continued to attend events and resumed work as Forum Tech in July - notably developing the 2014 website as a replacement for the long-outdated Flash website.[23] However his interest in RuneScape began to diminish, and he had fallen into inactivity by October.[24] After a forum post admitting previous wrongdoings, he was given the rank of Emeritus a second time on 19 October 2014.[25]

2016 - 2020

Vio spent 2015 mostly away from the game and WG, apart from briefly rejoining RBH from February to April.[17] After an 8-month break from RuneScape, he rejoined WG for the 4th time on 7 January 2016.[26] He graduated to Guardian on 2 February[27], and on 11 February 2016 Vio and His Lordship were invited to attend a VIP premiere of RuneScape's 15-year documentary. Vio's activity in WG progressively returned over the course of 2016 - despite occasionally struggling as his in-game stats fell behind the requirement of the clan[28] he attended events regularly and trialed the livestreaming of PK trips on Twitch - a clip of him nearly losing an Armadyl Godsword to Reign of Terror was featured on the community channel SparcMacLIVE.[29] Towards the end of the year he also returned to producing edited videos of WG's events.[30]

The Blade Keepers

Shortly after Vio had temporarily left WG in early 2011, Wilderness PvP and free trade were re-added to RuneScape and Vio took the opportunity to found the clan The Blade Keepers in February. This became an exodus of WG as multiple former WG members joined TBK, and a short rivalry between the clans occurred. Nonetheless Vio maintained his friendship with His Lordship, and even attended WG's London and Cambridge 2011 real life meeting while leading TBK. In March, multiple internal issues caused two exodi to form and take the majority of staff and clan members from TBK. Vio was unable to recover the clan and closed TBK in May, referring the remaining members on to Exalt.

Ascension

May 2011 (2 weeks)

After the closure of TBK, Vio joined Ascension and spent approximately 2 weeks with them. During the time he attended his longest consecutive fight in his personal clan history - against Envy, which lasted 4 hours. He also produced a handful of videos for Asc. However he was soon given an invitation from His Lordship to rejoin WG, and immediately accepted the offer and left Asc on or around 23 May 2011.[1]
