2006 was the 3rd complete year of the Wilderness Guardians in RuneScape 2.

Summary

2006 was the most successful year in RuneScape 2 for WG in terms of their overall PvP strength. A war with the Black Dragons put WG in the top 5 of P2P clans by January, and PK trips led by Kenshln (known as "KF Raids") were largely successful. His Lordship also produced a Flash website which gained widespread fame, and was often voted the best website within the RuneScape clan community. Despite continued success and more large-scale wars such as X vs DS, His Lordship eventually chose to step down from leadership of WG midway through the year. The replacement leaders continued to push WG as a top P2P clan ("powerhouse"). This resulted in a power struggle which caused His Lordship to return and temporarily close the clan for a few hours on 1 December. Over 100 members would leave within the follwing days, ending WG's era as a top clan.

Major Events

  • April - PHPBB forums: WG switched from the S10 Invisionfree forums to a set hosted on their wildernessguardians.com domain - referred to as "WG.com".
  • June - Descendant Guardians: WG's junior clan re-opened for a second iteration.
  • June - Fear: long-time allies Fear ended the alliance with WG, shortly before the clan's closure.
  • July - WG ended the alliance with the exodus clan The Synergy, and formed an alliance with Syn's exodus The Crusade.
  • June 5 - Clan House: His Lordship completed his player-owned-house designed specifically for WG - just 5 days after the skill's release.
  • July 22 - X vs DS: A large alliance of clans including WG and DG fought the Dark Slayers - the #2 F2P clan in RuneScape.
  • November 17 - WG reformed their alliance with The Synergy.
  • December 1 - D-Day: After a power struggle, His Lordship closed WG for around 3 hours. It was the only time in history that WG has closed, and resulted in over 100 members leaving.
