2005 was the second complete year of the Wilderness Guardians, and the first complete year of RuneScape 2.

Summary

In 2005, WG hosted more wars and started to build their reputation as a warring clan within the RuneScape clan world. The year began rough with a second exodus known as The Revolution causing WG to lose around 80 members in January, thought TR closed shortly after and many returned. WG raised their requirements to 80+ combat and a council was elected. In mid-2005 the clan had two major wars: one with The Unbreakables and one with Dead on Arrival - the latter being the first RuneScape war to make use of Ancient Magicks. His Lordship also made the infamous TeamSpeak Rant around this time as a result of a backstabbing incident - though both the video of the DoA war and the TeamSpeak rant served as a boost for WG's popularity and reputation. As a result of their continued progress and success, WG opened a junior clan, the Descendant Guardians.

Major Events

January - March

WG and Legends Legion in a war against Rivendell
  • February 28 - Council: WG's first council was formed, comprising of His Lordship, Palidore, Wildflame110, Oaktownrules, and Anincent - all of which were given the rank of "Secondary Leader".[6]
  • March 6 - Emeritus - WG introduced a new rank for retired players who wanted to remain active within the clan's community.[7]
  • March 24 - The Revolution: Rick Hamm closed TR after around 3 months of their existence.[8]

April - June

July - September

  • July 9 - WG vs Dead on Arrival: WG hosted an historic war against DoA - the clan's first P2P war, and the first RuneScape 2 war which used Ancient Magicks.
  • August 1 - Descendant Guardians: WG opened their junior clan DG for the first time, a month earlier than expected. DG had around 40 active members within the first 24 hours.
  • August 24 - Hall of Fame: WG's new member award system was added to the clan website (in a partially-completed state), which replaced the old Medals.[12]
  • September 30 - The Federation: with His Lordship's approval, Rick Hamm withdrew WG from The Federation alliance after a heated debate. Other clans would soon follow, leading to the end of the Fed.[13]

October - December

WG and Fear charging 'The' Clan
  • October 15 - WG and their ally Fear fought 'The' Clan in a large-scale F2P war. WG and Fear had ~220 members against THE's ~160, but the allies were defeated - nonetheless it was considered an enjoyable and respectable fight by both sides.[14]

December

A majority of December 2005 events are interpreted from a single Internet Archive capture of the S10 Forums Important Announcements section.

  • December 8 - A war is scheduled against Chivalry of Legends.
  • December 9 - A new TeamSpeak server is announced.
  • December 15 - The war against CL is cancelled due to hostilities.
  • December 16 - A miniwar against ST (full name unknown) is scheduled.
  • December 19 - New Requirements were set.
  • December 22 - A war against the Black Dragons is scheduled for January 2006.
  • December 23 - His Lordship's RuneScape account is hacked, leading to the loss of 60,000,000 coins worth of items to be used for the Anniversary.
